NAFLD Update
This session will provide an update into both the basic science/pathophysiology of NAFLD and its clinical aspects including treatment.
Goals and Objectives:
• Summarize knowledge about pathogenesis of steatosis and steatohepatitis.
• Introduce evidence supporting the concept that interindividual differences in the outcomes of NASH reflect differences in repair responses that are triggered by hepatocyte death.
• Present new information about how stellate cell activation promotes hepatic accumulation of inflammatory cells and liver progenitors.
• Summarize the prevalence, natural history and clinical associations of NAFLD and to understand the current therapeutic options
