Hepatitis Single Topic Conference
HCV Direct Antiviral Agents (DAA):  Concepts, Development, and Optimal Use
Emory Conference Center, Atlanta, GA
Friday March 16 - Saturday March 17, 2012

Course Directors: Raymond T. Chung, MD and Warren N. Schmidt, MD, PhD

Mission: To advance understanding of the factors and tools available for successful treatment of chronic hepatitis C infection.

Goals and Objectives

  • Understand the life cycle of HCV and the choice of viral molecular targets for therapy with DAA
  • To choose DAA regimens to maximize success of antiviral therapy as well as minimize resistance and treatment failure
  • Understand the concepts underlying viral resistance and the importance of drug class and drug choice for minimizing viral resistance
  • Define specific patient populations that will benefit from new DAAs and effective drug targeting
  • Understand current and future clinical options for DAA therapy

Target Audience

  • Hepatologists, gastroenterologists, infectious disease specialists, and specialized care providers for patients with chronic HCV infections
  • Researchers developing Direct acting antiviral agents for HCV

Call for Abstracts
AASLD will be accepting abstract submissions from attendees who are interested in presenting a poster at the conference. Please review the Abstract Guidelines and Template [PDF] for more information. The abstract submission deadline is Friday, March 2.

A limited number of travel awards will be available from AASLD for trainees in the field of hepatology with a special interest in the conference topic. In order to qualify for a travel award, an abstract on related research must be submitted and accepted.

Poster Reception
The Hepatitis STC will hold a poster reception on Friday, March 16th from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. Poster presenters must register for the conference.

*Continuing Medical Education credits will not be provided for this conference.

This program is supported by the AASLD/Roche Pharmaceuticals Hepatitis Single Topic Conference Endowment.
