AASLD has two 
membership application deadlines each year - April 1 and September 1. The exception is Trainee applications which are processed upon receipt.
The following items must accompany the application for membership.
- Letter(s) of recommendation
- Trainee applicants need one letter from their program director.
- Regular and International applicants need two letters from AASLD members.
- Associate applicants need one letter from an AASLD Member
- Curriculum vitae
- One page statement regarding the candidate's commitment to the field of hepatology (not required for Trainee applicants)
- Dues/Application fee schedule - payment must accompany application:

Membership Approval Process
Membership applications are submitted to the membership committee to be recommended for approval by the Governing Board. The Governing Board will publish a list of applicants at least twice annually for approval by the membership. This process can take up to three months and is conducted only twice per year. The only exception to this timetable are applications for Trainee Membership, which are reviewed and activated upon receipt throughout the year.
**Trainee members may maintain their membership for up to one year following completion of their training program. This year allows time to meet the requirements for Regular/International membership. Trainee members must then submit an application and the required supporting documentation for Regular or International membership as noted above.
